Shoshone Family Life
|
The children of the Shoshone tribe did things that modern kids do. Many children liked going hunting and fishing with their fathers. They had dolls, games and other toys to play with. They usually liked racing too. Women and girls played a game called Shinny. The mothers usually carried their smaller children on their backs in a cradleboard. Women cooked, cleaned and even built the family’s teepee. Men hunted for food and defended the family. Also, only then men could become the chiefs. Both genders took part in storytelling, art music and healing.
